Saskatoons will also help make a tasty pie or pot of jam – and as they are high in fibre and packed full of nutrients (which are similar to blueberries) – they are good for you too! Like other amelanchiers, its clusters of late spring flowers are pretty, and in autumn the leaves take on great autumn colours before they are shed, but ‘Northline’ is said to be one of the most generous with its berries. Garden care: Initially no pruning is necessary, however once well established, cut back a few of the older stems to the base each year in early spring.
